Comfort Keepers of southeastern PA, serves Delaware and Montgomery county, part of Philadelphia and Chester County. The office itself is located in Springfield, PA and the owners, Clark and Sallie Bongaardt are Springfield, PA natives. Born and breed in Delaware County, Clark served as an attorney in Media, PA for over 25 years while Sallie worked as a paralegal for another legal firm.
After the experience of taking care of Sallie’s aging parents several years ago, they saw a need for quality in-home services. They purchased their Comfort Keepers franchise and Clark left his law practice to work as the first employee in the Comfort Keepers office. A year later Sallie joined him in their mission to provide quality in-home services to anyone over the age of 18 who is sick, disabled or elderly.
Over the last few years, the office has served many clients including Delaware County seniors that receive care from the County Offices of Services for the Aging (COSA), veterans and the general public. Many families have written to express their thanks for all that Comfort Keepers did for them including the support provided to stressed family members who without the help would have had to miss work, quit jobs or change their entire lifestyle to take care of a loved one.
The office in Delaware County has received multiple awards including the prestigious COSA John H. Bauer Direct Caregiver of the Year, Rose Ritz, Comfort Keeper in 2006, Jackie Albert in 2007 and the COSA Barbara White Direct Caregiver of the Year Award to Comfort Keeper Helen Nowell in 2008. There were no awards given in 2009. The owners, Sallie and Clark Bongaardt have been recognized by Comfort Keepers several years in a row with the Presidents’ Award and in 2006 awarded Comfort Keeper Jackie Albert with the National Comfort Keeper of the Year Award. Selected from nominations submitted by over 550 offices, we are proud to have a National Comfort Keeper of the Year on our staff.
The office is also involved in community activities including collecting clothes for children in an orphanage in Russia, donating food to local food pantry and other donations to non-profit organizations and events.
Serving the populations in Delaware and Montgomery County, the office also provides care to residents in Malvern, Paoli and Devon (Chester County) as well as residents up to and including Center City Philadelpha.
