The staff of CareLink support Services in Eddystone, PA place donations in the box for the campaign to Stop Senior Hunger.
According to their website, “For over 50 years, CareLink Community Support Services has been dedicated to helping people with disabilities to live in the community with dignity and independence.”. “Our rehabilitation services and professional staff provide the supports that people with serious mental illness, physical disabilities and other developmental challenges need to be active, productive members of their communities.”
Under the direction of Eileen M. Joseph, a USPRA Fellow and the President and CEO of CareLink Community Support Services, , the staff follows the mission by serving individuals who need specialized supports to achieve wellness, recovery, and self-determination. In many ways, Comfort Keepers follows a similar mission in that caregivers provide support to individuals who are sick, disabled or elderly to live the highest quality of life in the comfort of his or her own home.
When the two organizations came together the topic of Senior Nutrition was discussed. After hearing that many sick, disabled and elderly individuals are suffering from malnutrition and lack food, the staff at CareLink decided to hold a canned food and dry goods collection for the campaign called Stop Senior Hunger. Stop Senior Hunger is a campaign by Comfort Keepers to provide low income senior citizens in Delaware County, PA with food through small or large food drives.
As a result of their efforts, CareLink staff donated almost 200 pounds of canned goods and dry foods to Stop Senior Hunger. The donations were delivered to a Chester PA senior citizen apartment dwelling. To read more about CareLink or make a donation to their organization, click HERE.
